A PERSONAL TRIBUTE TO A FATHER AND A FRIEND

Created by Emilia 12 years ago
Mr. Eyo Okon, a man I respect a lot...You walked the earth and lived your life; A life of simplicity, devoid of rancour, bitterness and strife. I barely knew you, but I loved you. This must've been as a result of the warmth of your personality. And I'm sure others will attest to this as a reality. Now you're gone, and I won't see you again. How much I miss you, daddy... My four years in a strange land, you were like a father to me; All through the period, you were like a friend to me. You opened your door to welcome me into your home; You opened your arms to receive me as if I were your own. I'll miss you for one thing - hoping for US when we seem to lose grips with Hope. That faithful day I walked in, the first time; I marvelled at the way you handled US and everything again was fine. Many times I called and ran to you; and you were always there, understanding and resolute. You listened, you cared, you watched, you prayed. You would say: "Phil, what is the problem?" "I need to see you." "When are you coming to the house?” "Come, let's talk." Need I say more? Those were the soothing words that brought me to my knees to open my heart to you. Who else will I talk to now that you're gone? It hurts that you didn't see me before you left. No "thank-you" and "goodbyes" before you took your rest. I wish we didn’t have to gather to mourn but to celebrate with you around. I hope you hear me, daddy-- It's not okay right now. Take our prayers before God that we may find a lasting solution to what we have left. I'll be forever grateful for all your fatherly advise and encouragement that saw me through. Daddy, rest in Perfect Peace with God Who loves you best, and I'm hoping that we meet again to part no more. Phil PHILIP ODE FRIEND
