BIOGRAPHY “Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there's a difference for me you know; because in that other room I shall be able to see. .................Helen Keller” We hope death becomes a passing from one phase of Life to another for our dear father who left us too soon. BIRTH Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon was born into the family of late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon Ansa of Ikongkokanie village of Ikot Edem Odo Ward of Akpabuyo Local Govt Area in Cross River State and Mrs. Arit Eyo Okon Ansa of Ntoide Vilage of Ikot Ekpene Local Govt Area of Akwa Ibom State on 22nd September 1963 as the 5th child of the family. EDUCATION: Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon obtained his first leaving school certificate in...........at St. Mary’s Primary School, Adiabo, Odukpani Local Govt Area in Cross River State and attended the prestigious St. Finbars College Lagos where he obtained his West African Examination Certificate in ........... He later attended various courses in the Cross River State Management Development Institute during his course of work in the Cross River State Civil Service. WORKING EXPERINCE Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon was a dedicate staff of the Cross River State Civil Service under The Ministry of Youth and Sports. He was admired by his colleagues as a hard working man who got the job done. He served his motherland for 24 years and died in active service. CHRISTIAN LIFE Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon was born and baptised into The Apostolic Church of Nigeria. Infact, he was one of the first members of The Apostolic Church in Ikongkokanie as a child accompanying his father who was an instrument to the establishment of The Apostolic Church in the community. He accompanied his father to every prayer meeting, rally&service and that made him rooted in the church till his death. He believed in God with all his heart and often preached the word of God to everyone who gave a listening ear. His best book according to him was The Bible. SOCIAL LIFE Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon was a man of the people. He was loved by all young and old alike. “Da Eyu” as he was fondly called by friends was a peace maker and his home was open to all. There was literally no home in the street he lived he was not called to settle one dispute or the other; young men felt comfortable approaching him to assist them to one issue or another. He socialized with everyone regardless of class, religion and ethnic group. He was a very simple man, easy to approach and easy going as he believed life was precious and one had to take life easy. He had fantastic communication skills and his writing skills earned him the post of the “secretary” in any group he found himself. He was the first secretary of the Lower Edem Effiom Ekpo Clan Family which he hailed from. PERSONAL LIFE Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon got married to Mrs. Bassey Eyo Okon and was blessed with 3 children (2 Females and 1 Male) whom he loved passionately. He children were his best friends and pals. He was a disciplinarian, lover of truth, justice and equality. He was caring, amiable, approachable, simple and easy going who took joy in teaching his children about the Efik culture and heritage as he believed every should know where they came from. He died a loving father who sacrificed all he had to keep his family together against all odds. He was a rare gem. He died a loving husband; father, brother, uncle and in-law. DEATH Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon died in the arms of his loving family after a protracted illness on 18th March, 2012. Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon left too soon but we cannot question God’s will. God gives and God takes. Daddy, you never told us you were leaving; you never said goodbyes; you were gone before we knew it. We will miss you greatly but we are consoled with your faith in God and his word knowing that you are resting in his bossom. Adieu Papa!!!! May your soul rest in Perfect Peace. Late Mr. Eyo Eyo Okon is survived by his children, brothers, sisters, and very many relations/friends to mourn his death.
